Finally a win. The offense looked really good against the Texans. The defense did not perform too bad. I want to see more pressure as we get into the season. But the Special Teams, especially the coverage units, still trouble me. While playing semi-pro football, I was on all the Special Team units. With that experience you realize just how important Special Teams and field advantage are. The Cowboys must improve these units. They could hinder alot of what the Offense and Defense accomplish. But overall, I am very excited and hyped up about the forthcoming season.
So Dallas loses again, but I am not that worried. You have to remember this is just the preseason. In the 1990’s when Dallas was winning those superbowls, they hardly won any preseason games. I think the special teams did better. I want to see a better performance from the defense, especially in the way of pressure on the quarterback. I think the offense should get more time together in game 3 to get a better gel together. All in all not too terribly worried or disappointed.
Well its week 2 in the pre-season and Saturday, August 16th at 7pm, the Cowboys take on the Broncos in Denver.
I am expecting alot more out of the Boys and I want to see a win, mostly cause I hate the Broncos. But in reality I hope to see very limited injuries. I don’t think the starters should be exposed that long, that way to reduce the risk to injuries. I’m still keeping an eye on the Special Teams. I think that is the area that really needs the most work and improvement.
Well it was the first preseason game so I am not going to get too concerned with the score. As a fan I would have preferred a win, but oh well. Also, if we were to meet the Chargers again in Tampa Bay, I would prefer to go in 0-1 against them, just for the extra drive.
Special Teams coverage, one of my keys to this game, was terrible. That has to improve, but at the same time you got to see game 1 of the preseason as an evaluation game. There were players the coaches put in there just to see if they qualify for a spot on the roster. When the regular season rolls around, that unit should be comprised of a diffrent grouping if players that should be more successful. Still, Special Teams coverage is the biggest area ofconcern heading into this season for me.
The Defensive did great and I think the combonaton of players and how they can be swapped around will excel this season. I see alot more pressure on opposing Quarterbacks then even laster year. Especially if the coverage behind them is better.
I am not as worried about the Wide Receiver depth as I once was. They seem to be gellin very good. And I have more confidence in Patrick Crayton then I did at the end of last year. I think if the progression of the younger guys like Miles Austin, Sam Hurd, & Issah Stanback continue forward then Wide out should not be a major area of concern (barring any injuries… knock on wood).
Keep an eye on special teams as the preason moves on… Next stop Denver
Well I am not expecting much as far as a win goes, but as a fan I do want a win. The most important thing in this game is to avoid injuries. That is the absolute worse thing about preseason games. The things I look for in this game is the Rookies & First year players, and how they respond to the NFL game. I will also be watching: Special Teams, the young Wide Receivers, & the Defensive Line rotation.
Training camp is just around the corner. I am getting very excited about this season. Imho, there is no glaring weakness on this team. This is the best Cowboys team I have seen since 1996. Lets go Cowboys!!!!!
Sorry to all member’s of the Cowboys Blog. I have been on hiatus due to the deep depression of a way too early and still way too painful exit of the playoffs by said Cowboys. I will be returning soon in off-season mode. Complete with analysis and off the wall opinionated predictions.
This is a very important game, I know they all are. But after all the panic from losing to Philly, Dallas needs to win this one. Lets see how they react to injuries, suspensions, and girlfriends. I believe they will pull this one off.
